The best printer upgrades aren't always the ones that look impressive on a spec sheet. Sometimes, they're the little things that make a busy Tuesday feel easier.
If you run a custom apparel business, you know the moments we're talking about. Getting film positioned before your first order. Stopping to cut a finished transfer. Taking care of white ink when the printer has been sitting. Making room for another machine in a space that's already doing three jobs at once.
Those ordinary, in-between moments are exactly where we focused our attention when developing the new Haolic XP-2 Desktop DTF Printer.
Our third-generation desktop DTF model officially launched on October 15, 2026. It's still the compact, personality-filled printer our community knows us for—but with smarter controls, easier film handling, and a more thoughtful approach to everyday maintenance.
We Started With the Questions You Kept Asking
Haolic's pink desktop DTF story began in 2022. As more creators brought our printers into spare rooms, home studios, and growing apparel shops, our conversations changed. We weren't just talking about what people wanted to print. We were hearing about what happened before and after the print.
Support conversations, setup questions, and discussions in our Haolic Facebook community kept pointing to the same practical concerns: easier printhead care, less hands-on film handling, better access for cleaning, and more confidence when a printer isn't being used every day.
That's why the XP-2 isn't about making a desktop printer unnecessarily bigger or more complicated. It's about making the work around each print a little more manageable.
Little Upgrades That Make a Difference in Your Workflow
1. A Touchscreen That Puts Everyday Controls Within Reach
The XP-2's HD touchscreen brings common actions directly to the printer. You can set the number of copies for a design, run one-touch printhead cleaning, and prime the ink system without switching back and forth through computer controls for those tasks.
If you're working through a small batch of matching shirts or preparing transfers for multiple orders, those simple controls can make the process feel less interrupted.
2. Automatic Film Cutting and Easier Film Handling
Cutting film might sound like a small detail—until you're doing it over and over during a busy production day. With the XP-2, you can trigger the built-in film cutter from the touchscreen after printing.
One-touch pinch roller lifting and forward/reverse film controls also make loading and positioning film more convenient. The goal isn't to remove every hands-on step from DTF printing; it's to reduce the unnecessary ones.
3. Smarter Care for the Times Between Print Jobs
Anyone who works with DTF knows that maintenance matters, especially when white ink is involved. The XP-2 includes automatic white ink circulation at startup, touchscreen-activated head cleaning, and easier access through two maintenance doors.
It also introduces two features for the quieter parts of your schedule:
- Smart Sleep Mode: After a period of inactivity, the vacuum fan automatically switches off to reduce noise and power use while the printer remains ready for work.
- Computer-Free Vacation Mode: With the machine powered on and the mode properly enabled, the printer can run scheduled white ink circulation and light nozzle firing without a connected computer.
An important note: These functions are designed to make printer care easier, not make the XP-2 maintenance-free. Regular nozzle checks, cleaning, and proper storage practices still matter. Always follow the instructions for your specific operating conditions and time away.
We Also Paid Attention to the Parts You Don't See First
A pretty printer is fun to look at. But a printer that becomes part of your business needs more than good looks.
The XP-2 pairs a 13-inch print width and XP600 printhead with an upgraded drive system, including a 57-series stepper motor and 10 mm timing belt. The changes are intended to support more stable film feeding and positioning during routine production.
You'll also find a dedicated LED workspace light, accessible maintenance doors, an emergency stop control, and a software workflow that doesn't require a separate physical USB dongle.
None of these details needs to be the star of every product photo. They're simply the kinds of thoughtful improvements we believe small businesses should have access to.
A Desktop Printer for Real-Life Creative Spaces
Not every maker has a dedicated production room. Sometimes a business starts at the end of a dining table, in a spare bedroom, or in a studio that also handles packing, photography, and customer messages.
The XP-2's compact desktop footprint is designed with those spaces in mind. Its 13-inch format is suited to making DTF transfers for custom T-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, and other compatible fabric items—whether you're fulfilling orders for an established shop or building your first product line.
It's also worth thinking about your complete workflow. DTF production requires suitable film, ink, adhesive powder, powder curing, and heat pressing. The printer is an important part of that process, but it's not the only equipment you'll need.
New to DTF, or Ready for an Upgrade?
If you're buying your first desktop DTF printer, we want daily operation and maintenance to feel approachable. The XP-2's touchscreen and one-touch features are designed to help, and our team offers setup guidance, training resources, and technical support.
If you've already been printing with an earlier Haolic model, the question is a little different: would easier film handling and more convenient maintenance make a meaningful difference to your workday?
That's the question we'd encourage you to ask—not simply whether the newest machine has a longer feature list.

XP-2 Is Here. And This Is Just the Beginning.
We officially introduced the XP-2 on October 15, with a printer-only launch price starting at $1,999 and several configurations for different studio setups. Pricing and availability can change, so check the product page for the latest package options and offers.
We're proud of the technical changes, of course. But what excites us most is seeing how real creators put them to work—making custom pieces for their customers, trying new product ideas, and growing businesses that started small.
That's what the XP-2 is here for: more creating, less time spent on the little maintenance and handling tasks in between.
